New Workshop: Engineer Your Overwhelm
Learn the four strategies for coping with overwhelm... and why we struggle to use them effectively.
When you have too much handle, how do you cope?
Research in Resilience Engineering has identified four load-shedding strategies used by systems that are nearing saturation – a fancy way of saying, four ways to cope with overwhelm. In this interactive online workshop, we'll explore a systems approach to overwhelm. And since intellectual understanding isn't enough to help us when things get tricky, we'll also dig into the psychological and emotional reasons we struggle to use those approaches when we need them most.
Here's a preview of what we'll talk about:
- The experience of overwhelm in our energy system (in contrast to the story of overwhelm we create in our minds).
- The difference between workload saturation and energetic saturation.
- The four load-shedding strategies: Skip, Shrink, Delay, and Get Help.
- How our patterning puts obstacles in the way of using these strategies.
After exploring these ideas, I'll do live coaching with some attendees, digging into how we can bring these ideas into practice.
